Some Collages
These photo collages were done for a magazine article several years ago. Taken in my living room and comprising of various pieces from the Some Product collection at the time, as well a variety of items found within arm’s reach, showcasing the inspiration everyday popular culture and music plays in the creative process.
Featured items: Stenciled “Filth & Fury” dress, Collage tube dress, Some Product “Fuck Forever” tee, “Salon” fanny packs, Some Product Solid Gold tee and El Ballistico tee.
Hola! Diego!
Maradona is one of my all time heros, and not just in sports. I don’t particularly idolize many people, but he is an exception. Aside from being the greatest player of his time, he is a real human being, not the usual boring and predictable celebrity. Outspoken and funny, troubled and genius, a saint and a sinner.
Watching Maradona as the manager of a great Argentina team is almost as fun as watching him play. I love the way he kisses and hugs each player when they come off the field. I love the way he paces like a little Napoleon on the sidelines. The Argentina players will play their hearts out for this guy and as the World Cup progresses, one can’t help but think that Maradona, could be the X factor in this World Cup.
When Some Product started, the very first collection of graphics ever designed and produced was entitled “BADASS”. They were dedicated to the real “badasses” in the world of sports. Without much hesitation Maradona was my very first choice for the upcoming line as he literally epitomizes the term.
The Maradona graphic was also featured on a cut and sew line of “BADASS” women’s dresses, that were available at select boutiques in North America and Japan that same season. Also visible on the dress are the Reggie Jackson and Dr. J designs. The dress was featured in a Flaunt magazine editorial that same season.
…..And from Germany, a different take on a Maradona t!!!! Amazing.
Hi Hitler! Lets Party !
20th century’s most hated tyrant, gets a Nu Rave make over, complete with hip hop “Kanye” shades on this insane and amazing example of a street t-shirt graphics from Bangkok. Seeing as Thailand was quite removed from the events and horrors of WW2, Hitler is usually depicted in the same way, as say, Marilyn, Che or The Sex Pistols, basically just another pop culture image.
I loved my adidas, but I love N.W.A. more.
One of my favorite bands of all time and one of my favorite tees.
This killer N.W.A. tee came from a trade for a pair of blue shell toe Adidas years ago. Who cares about the shell toes anyway!!
Ion Mag x Mycommunitee
Seven years is a long time to last in the independent magazine world. Our friends at ION have not only survived but have consistently grown, while making the magazine more interesting in both content and over all presentation. For the past several months we have collaborated with them on their Limited EDIT[ION] t-shirt series. Below are the three latest tees Mycommunitee has printed.
An Expo 86 inspired design by a very lanky and talented Vancouverite, Robert Mearns.
A killer news clip graphic from my pal, Devit aka The Dark.
And, the latest design is from Brian Donelly whose awesome paintings I recently saw at The Show & Tell gallery in Toronto.
Contact ION magazine directly to purchase any of these tees and Happy 7th ION!!
Petroleum By-Product
Petroleum By-Product is an awesome, new-wave tinged band from Vancouver, NOT a duo of dreadlocked Dutch eco-warrior rave Dj’s, as some may think!!!
After weeks, of literally being held at gun point in a dungeon like studio, by the very Spector like Soulkid1 aka Lord Godfrey, these guys are ready breathe in the fresh air of East Hastings and synth their way into our little hearts, tonite (April 16, 2010) at the Rickshaw theatre.
Last week, Sally from PBP stopped by Mycommunitee.com to get a tee made from their Superficial Artificial album cover. A very limited number of these tees may be available for purchase directly from the band.
AHHH-nold the Great!!!
Fresh of the Mycommunitee.com press. Arnold maybe running a broke-ass California into the ocean but he was in fine championship form in the 70’s. This fine specimen of a tee is available in limited edition at the Some Product studio and Zoo Zhop in Vancouver.
A Funny story about a High Class Hooker

This design was part of the “Salon” series of tees that Some Product put out around 2004. All the graphics were inspired by 80’s clip art type images on windows of many strip mall hair salons found all over North America, but especially in LA. This particular design has a girl holding some bills in her hand with the words High Class in English, and the word Hooker written in Japanese Kanji writing.
Several months after the release of this tee, I got a call that Hilary Duff was wearing that same shirt inside an In Touch magazine. At the time she must have been about 16 and from what I read/heard a total All American – prom queen – goodie goodie. A week later her video for “So Yesterday” came out, and she was wearing the tee in the video as well. We all thought it was funny, yet being very new to the whole biz it didn’t occur that it might be a good idea to get this story out to the press. To this day, I am not sure Hilary or any of her “people” realize she was wearing a shirt that said HIGH CLASS HOOKER in her very first music video!
In the beginning
Some Product started as a women’s only fashion line specializing in cutting edge design and hand airbrushed graphics. This was known as Some Product “White Label”. This first collection was called TOYS and was sold at prestigious boutiques internationally. Plans are in the works to relaunch the “White Label” line for women, for S/S 11. Below are some examples from the first Some Product catalogue from around 2003.

Not every DOG is a prophet!
DOG the Bounty Hunter is a bit of an obsession with me. Ok, a lot of an obsession. He truly represents everything American, in all of its beauty and ugliness. He is a top rated reality TV star, a reformed ex-drug addict, biker, a former inmate who is now on the other side of the law. He is religious, a family man with a dozen kids from different marriages, a racist who went on Larry King and cried and asked the nation for forgiveness. He is equal parts prophet, pro wrestler, super hero, preacher man, redneck, addictions counselor, reality tv star and a true pop culture icon!
This drawing is due to be turned into a tee. Beth and Youngblood are next!!!
THE DOG TEE!!! printed by Mycommunitee.com. Available by request at the Some Product studio. You will have to pass a DOG trivia quiz before we can sell you this shirt. No joke!
