I’m a Survivor

What a find! I love the graphic and the sentiment.

We all survive dozens of things daily. Awkward encounters, odd smells, crap movies, break ups, the list could go on and on. This shirt is like a call to raise the “devil sign” with nails painted bright red, to all of life’s little problems.

Some things just never change

I recently got an email from a very old friend that contained these two drawings as attachments. Immediately, I realized that these random doodles were made by me in one of his notebooks years ago. I guess it must have been in high school. Not to get overly analytical, but it’s interesting how these two drawings, so poignantly encapsulate something of my teenage psyche. It’s entirely plausible that similar images may appear, if I were to unconsciously start doodling right now.

Thanks to Bob G. for holding on to these Freudian glimpses.

Fire of Love

The Gun Club’s first record – “Fire of Love” is dangerously contagious. It infected me the very first time I heard it and after years of inactivity, the virus resurfaced recently, with a real vengeance! It still sounds just as bad ass, sleazy and lean as I remembered it. In my mind the best example of the blues and roots rock-n-roll infused with the raw energy of early LA punk. This is done with such flair and conviction on this record that it permeates every cell in my body right down to the bone every time I hear it. With so few constants in life, Fire of Love remains an exception. It sounds as good now as it did the first time I heard it. That really can’t be said about most music.

Aerobic Twins

An awesome, home made little number found at Community Thrift & Vintage in Vancouver’s Gastown. I dug this place. Great prices, nice staff and a chance to help the very community where the store is located by shopping there.

Hand painted tees can go either way – super hippie-dippie, sloppy junk or kind of weird and rad. I’d say this one is definitely the latter.
