Denim jackets are pretty much timeless. They are an integral item in any wardrobe worth keeping, and a really good one, will remain a cherished item for life. They are worn by every one and any one. Bikers & Rockers. Punks & Skins. Hippies & Mods. Skaters & Metalheads. The Young & The Old. Everyone….
Several years ago I started collecting vintage denim jackets and old patches and slowly started to work on Some Product Custom. The only rule was, that each one should be a completely unique item, and reflect or rather pay tribute to, a certain personal style or scene.
These jackets are available in very limited quantities for wholesale or directly from Some Product (visit our studio or online store).
Starting in March 2011, they will be available at Patricia Fields Boutique on the Bowery in NYC and in Vancouver at El Kartel.
All jackets are printed by Mycommunitee.com.
The first jacket pictured is my old junior high school daily uniform (nfs).

Cutting stencils and airbrushing was a huge part of the creative thrust and process for Some Product during 2004 and 2005. Most of the items from that period were airbrushed individually by hand in Vancouver. It was a very exciting and spontaneous period with many designs being one-of-a-kind, or in extremely limited runs. The majority of the collections were sold to customers in Japan. Locally they were sold at El Kartel.
In 2011, Some Product will be bringing back airbrush elements into the collection. (Posts to follow).
Time permitting, there is a possibility of an airbrush workshop at Blim in the up coming months. Check with Blim for any details.

Nostalgia was a 2004 New Years’ Eve party held at the current “Red Gate” space on Hastings St. in Vancouver. Nostalgia successfully strived to be more then another over priced and predictable New Years’ party. It fused innovative performances, site specific set design and art. Most importantly it was a blast!
No need to feel Nostalgic however, as many of the same people involved in 2004, are throwing another New Years’ party at the Waldorf Hotel, which again promises to be something special.
Happy New Years’ and see you in 2011!
About 50-70 of these Nostalgia tees were produced specifically for the event.

Former teenage “bad girl” appears on this vintage t-shirt bought at a Saint Catherine’s sex shop in Montreal, sometime in the 90’s. Tracy Lord’s iconic image gets the full-on DIY, photocopied and cut-up treatment, in a glorious high contrast black and white print. No gloss here, just cheap, easy n’ sleazy.

This design was part of the “Salon” series of tees that Some Product put out around 2004. All the graphics were inspired by 80’s clip art type images on windows of many strip mall hair salons found all over North America, but especially in LA. This particular design has a girl holding some bills in her hand with the words High Class in English, and the word Hooker written in Japanese Kanji writing.
Several months after the release of this tee, I got a call that Hilary Duff was wearing that same shirt inside an In Touch magazine. At the time she must have been about 16 and from what I read/heard a total All American – prom queen – goodie goodie. A week later her video for “So Yesterday” came out, and she was wearing the tee in the video as well. We all thought it was funny, yet being very new to the whole biz it didn’t occur that it might be a good idea to get this story out to the press. To this day, I am not sure Hilary or any of her “people” realize she was wearing a shirt that said HIGH CLASS HOOKER in her very first music video!
Sex Metal was a term used to describe 80’s Judas Priest album covers by a Japanese friend of mine. It is a yet to be released line of tees from Some Product. Most designs are in development stages. Samples and very limited runs are printed by Mycommunitee.
